Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE

:

Under minimal supervision, receives orders for blood and blood products (including BioCARE), prepares blood and blood products for delivery and delivers those products to customers. Assists in supervising Hospital Services employees.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

:

Performs all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations. Is responsible for bringing compliance issues to the attention of management.
Assures quality customer service to all customers.
Coordinates and assists with training.
Is responsible for workflow coordination.
Receives orders for blood and blood products; records and fills orders for customers on a priority level; and performs data entry.
Provides assistance with missing product research and resolution.
Reviews and maintains accurate hospital services records and prepares and processes the necessary department forms.
Monitors and maintains Hospital Services equipment and vehicles and updates applicable records and charts. Performs quality control of storage equipment and shipping procedures. Performs corrective action for unscheduled storage alarms and documentation of equipment maintenance as needed.
Monitors all plasma shipments.
Performs inventory of stock as necessary.
Performs irradiation or transfer of blood components to an outside irradiation facility.
Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge/ Education

High school graduate or GED required.

Skills/Abilities

Good communication and customer relation skills in order to deal effectively with customers.

Must possess leadership and HR skills.

Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, stretch, reach, and sit.

Detail oriented to ensure accuracy on paperwork.

Personal computer skills required.

Must be able to work on-call, various shifts including evenings and weekends, and overtime.

Must possess a valid driver s license and have an acceptable driving record.

Able to work independently.

Experience

Two years experience as a Hospital Services Technician or related experience required.

Supervisory experience preferred.
